Applicant Event Info
Firstly congratulations being a part of The Alternative Awards, we are delighted and proud to have you. Below you will find all information regarding the awards and the evening, and should you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
How:
How the voting works, once you have your poster that means you will be posted on the @thealternativeawardsofficial instagram page, and added to a ‘highlight’ named with the award category. Once you are posted there, people can then drop a like (vote) for you from then onwards. Please not a vote is only on the post NOT the story that you are added to. If at any stage you cannot find your post, simply go into the category highlight, find your post on there and click on it and that goes straight to the original post.
We also, when posting you, will message you, your own direct link that you can send to people directly to vote.
One thing to note and goes along with the voting. We are fully aware that people can buy likes for their posts, increasing the vote number BUT as we have publicly stated we will remove these from any final vote count OR completely remove the applicant from the process for doing so.
Dress Code:
Its an awards, dress as you feel, whether fully latex clad or black ball gown, the only thing we say no to, are jeans and trainers.
Arrival Time:
Doors open at 6pm, with red carpet pictures, free glass of bubbles and you have your seat/table number on your ticket for you to go to when you please. IF you do not want your picture to be taken, thats completely fine, just let our photographer know or pick up a red wristband when you first arrive.
The Awards:
We are starting the awards themselves around 7:30pm roughly finishing all awards around 10-10:30pm.
Parking:
There are multiple car parks near the venue, NCP and others, the closest car park to Athena is on Queen Street, LE1 1QW. A single floor car park only a minute away.
Where:
Athena, Queen Street, LE1 1QD is an 11 minute walk from Leicester train station. and 11 minute walk from St Margarets Bus Station.
After Party:
We have an official after party at the Spearmint Rhino, LE1 3GQ less than 10 minute walk from Athena, with free entry for all awards guests.

Please see a list of hotels, with addresses and direct links to book discounted rooms on the Awards Event page. There are also many other hotels in the area,
Tickets:
ALL attendees have to pay a ticket price, we have however created a discounted ticket ONLY for applicants/nominees at £10 each available via the shop. Why do we charge applicants? Simply because you are getting a high end awards event, with guaranteed seating and free drink on arrival.
Once you pay for a ticket, you receive your ticket to the email provided, this has your table number and seat number on it. When attending, simply show your ticket via your phone or printed to the member of staff on the door. They scan your ticket and done.
We do NOT have a list of ticket holders at the event, so please make sure you have your ticket as we wont be able to find it on the night. Likewise IF you havent received your ticket by the Thursday 3rd June, let us know so we can resend it, we cannot re-send after this.
ID:
We always advise to bring ID with you, just in case.
Venue:
Athena caters for everything and everyone. Step free access throughout, and disabled toilets. within the main room. Assistance dogs are also allowed if registered.
Attendance:
IF for whatever reason you cannot attend as a finalist/potential finalist, (we have marked this on the application form) please let us know. that way we (and you) don't look silly shouting out a winners name that isn't there to accept an award. Obviously we want every applicant to attend the awards as its not just for a physical award, its also a superb networking opportunity and potential career development. If you cannot attend do you have someone who could potentially collect an award on your behalf?
